How can I drag and drop a receipt scan to a transaction it says you can do it but it doesn't work

Hello, @AM100.

Let me guide you in adding a scanned receipt to your existing transaction.

Here’s how:

  1. Go to the Transactions menu.
  2. From the Transaction List, locate the transaction you want to add a receipt.
  3. Click the drop-down arrow to open the transaction.
  4. Open the file folder where you saved the scanned receipt.
  5. Search for the scanned receipt.
  6. Click and drag the file you want to add.
  7. Drop it on the Receipt field.
  8. Click Save.

You can also attach receipts using the mobile app. For the step-by-step instructions, you can read through this article: Enter receipts on your QuickBooks Self-Employed mobile app.

If you’re still unable to add the scanned receipt, can you provide us with the error you’ve received? This will allow me to further check on the root cause here on my end.

In the meantime, to isolate this concern for possible browser-related, let’s perform the following troubleshooting steps:

  1. Access your QuickBooks Self-Employed account using an incognito or private browser.
    • Google Chrome, press CTRL + Shift + N
    • Mozilla Firefox: press CTRL + Shift + P
    • Internet Explorer: Press CTRL + Shift + P
    • Safari: press Command + Shift + N
  2. If you’re able to add your receipts successfully, it's possible that the stored data on your browser caused the odd behaviour. To resolve this, you may want to clear your browser’s cache.
  3. You can also use other web browsers.
  4. Also, you can run the Browser Health Checkup Tool to check your browser’s health and its compatibility with QuickBooks Self-Employed.
