I am trying to download transactrions from barclaycard business account . It asks for a membership number. Barclaycard have no idea what this is. has anyone done this?

Ideally, the Barclaycard business account won't ask for a membership number. It could have been that you're connecting an incorrect financial institution's (FI) link. To make sure you're able to connect the correct bank, login to your FI's official website and copy the URL link. Here's how: 

Step 1: Copy financial institution (FI) login URL

1. Log in to your bank's website.
2. Verify that you can see your account summary, account history, and account details without any errors.
3. Copy the URL link. ex: https://www.barclaycard.co.uk/business.
4. Log out of the FI's website and continue to add the account in QuickBooks Online.

Step 2: Paste the financial login URL in QuickBooks 

1. Log in to QuickBooks Online.
2. Go to the Banking tab on the left menu.
3. On the Banking page, click Add Account.
4. Enter and paste the copied URL for your financial institution in the Search bar. 
5. Make sure to select Barclaycard business Business UK. 

I know that you've already contacted your bank. if you've tried all the options matching your bank's name and still asks for a membership number, I'd suggest you contact your bank again and verify the correct listing that they have supported to connect with QuickBooks.
