Hi there, carlos. I'll guide you through setting up yourself as a subcontractor and recording your taxes in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

In QBDT, you can set up yourself as a regular vendor and add an indication of being a subcontractor. This way, we can track or keep a record of your transaction or tax payment made outside of QuickBooks. I'll show you how:

  1. Go to the Vendors menu and select Vendor Centre.
  2. From there, click the New Vendor dropdown and select New Vendor.
  3. Enter your name in the Vendor Name section.
  4. Fill out the Address Info, and navigate to the Additional Info tab to specify your Vendor Type as Subcontractors.
  5. Once done, click OK.

To track your tax payments, we can manually record this by writing a check. Before doing so, please check with your accountant to guide you about what accounts to use, especially in choosing a payee:

  1. Go to the Banking menu, and select Write Checks.
  2. Choose the Bank Account from which the money has been taken.
  3. Select for whom the check was issued from the Pay to the order of section.
  4. Enter the Date, put the Check No., Amount, Address, and Memo if you want to enter additional details of the check.
  5. Choose either to enter the transactions by Expenses or Items. Please be guided to choose Expenses to enter shipping charges, liability, and other expenses not associated with any item in QuickBooks. Then use the Item tab to choose the appropriate item from the list.
  6. Lastly, click Save & Close.

I will also include an article that can help you understand the fundamental principles of reporting data. Additionally, you may want to explore ways to customize the data more efficiently: Understand reports
