Is QBO having issues connecting to Amex credit card

Welcome to the Community, @colin-c-and-c-el.

Thank you for alerting this connectivity issue between QBO with Amex Credit Card to us. Currently, we haven't seen any reports the same as what you're experiencing right now.

In your case, I suggest checking the Banking page if there's an error message so you can send it to us. This way, I can provide you with proper steps to resolve banking errors in QuickBooks Online.

In the meantime, if you have attempted to reconnect your Amex credit card, I suggest disconnecting and reconnecting the account instead. In this manner, you can reauthorise an expired connection.

Before disconnecting and reconnecting your Amex credit card account, ensure no transactions are sitting in the For Review tab. We advise you to match or add them first. Here's how to disconnect your credit card account:

  1. Go to Bookkeeping, select Transactions, then select Bank transactions.
  2. Select the bank account you need to disconnect.
  3. Select the pencil icon✎, then choose Edit account info.
  4. Tick Disconnect this account on save.
  5. Select Save and close.

Then follow Step 3Reconnect the bank account from this article: Reconnect your bank account in QuickBooks Online.

Additionally, once your connection looks good, here are a few things you want to know about adding or matching bank feed transactions.

Let me know if you still have issues after doing that, and share some screenshots. I'll be here to assist. Take care!

Hi, @colin-c-and-c-el. It's not the kind of experience I want you to have while connecting your bank. I appreciate you sharing the error codes you're getting. I'm stepping into the thread to help you link your account successfully.

There are no open cases related to the error message you're getting. As an initial step, I recommend connecting your account through a private window to see the result.

  1. Use either of these keyboard shortcuts to save you time.
    1. Google Chrome: press Ctrl Shift
    2. Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl Shift
    3. Safari: press Command Shift N
  2. Sign in to QuickBooks.
  3. Link your bank to QuickBooks.

If it works, clear the cache of your main browser to remove the history. You may also use another supported program as an alternative.

If you receive the same error codes, you may need to contact support to investigate this further.

  1. Go to the Help icon located in the upper right-hand corner.
  2. Click the Contact Us button located at the bottom.
  3. Enter your question and click Let's talk.
  4. Choose either Start a chat or Call us.

Once your bank is connected, the system will download your transactions automatically. You can review and categorize them from the For Review tab.

Feel free to notify me in the comment section below if you have other banking concerns. I'm always here to help. Keep safe!

So I’ve created a connection to my Amex card as a new connection but I still can’t connect the old tab that needs to be reactivated. 226 entries that need attention so reluctant to go any further other than to delete this new account that I have just created . Pls advise

Let's make sure you'll be able to connect your bank account, @colin-c-and-c-el.

Are you getting a specific error when trying to connect to your bank? As mentioned by Angelyn_T, you can log into your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account using an incognito window to fix the issue. Once done, try connecting to your bank again. Also, I've checked and it seems AMEX connection issues have already been resolved. You'll want to sign in to your bank's website and check if there are maintenance or notifications that need your attention. Sometimes, these are some of the factors that simply affect when connecting your bank accounts.

However, if the issue persists, I recommend reaching out again to our support team to double-check and investigate further. They have the tools to pull up your account in a secure environment. Here's how to reach them:

  1. Click the (?) Help icon and enter Talk to a human (then type it again when prompted).
  2. When asked by the bot, enter your concern.
  3. Select I still need a human, then proceed with Contact us or Get help from a human.
  4. Choose either Chat or Callback.

If ever you're able to connect or sync your bank, I'm sharing these resources below to give you more insights on how to fix bank errors and what to do if transactions are not updating in QBO:

Furthermore, once transactions are in, learn how to categorize and match bank transactions with those you've entered in QuickBooks using this article. Categorize and Match Online Bank Transactions In QuickBooks Online.

Feel free to leave a comment below if you have other questions about connecting your AMEX credit card to QuickBooks. I'm always around to help. Keep safe!

I've tried refreshing, disconnecting, and reconnecting my Amex and only a certain amount of transactions will load into Quickbooks. It only loads the last 3 months despite selecting a full year of transactions. Anyone know how to fix?

Thank you for contacting us regarding your concern about downloading transactions from AMEX into QuickBooks Online, freshfaceskinclinic. I understand you're only seeing the last 3 months of activity even though you want to import the entire year.

I'd like to let you know that most participating financial institutions only download the most recent 3 months of transactions when connecting accounts to QBO.

For accessing older data beyond that rolling 90-day window, you can request or download a copy of your full credit card statement directly from Amex. Then you can import that CSV file into QuickBooks Online to bring in the older transactions.

Let me share these articles as your guide on how to convert bank statements and format them before importing them in QBO:

After following the correct format, follow the steps in these articles on how to import it in Manually Upload Transactions Into QuickBooks Online.

Let me know if you have any other questions as you import your AMEX statement, freshfaceskinclinic. I'd be happy to provide additional guidance on using the online banking features in QuickBooks Online.
