How to Import Trial Balance Data from MS Excel?

I'm subscribed to QB Accountants Online. I have clients whose Trial Balances are currently in excel format. When I click on Import Data from the Gear option, I don't see the option to Import a trial balance. Can someone please tell me how I can import a whole trial balance (in excel format) into QBs? Thank you.

@FarhatKG

The best way to import a Trial Balance into QBO is with the import type Journal Entry.

NOTE: Any line in the import file that posts to an AR or an AP Account must reference a name (Customer or Vendor), and that name must already exist in your QBO account.

Hello, FarhatKG.

I have updated my answer. Upon checking our test accounts and the test drive, the option to import the Trial balance differs on what country you're in. As of this moment, importing the trial balance  is not available in the UK. That said, you may want to consider using a third-party application to import them as a workaround.

You can check for supported apps through this link: QuickBooks Apps Store  or from the Apps menu.

Here's how:

  1. In QBO, go to the Apps menu at the left pane to get to the Finds Apps page.
  2. Enter a keyword in the Search address (i.e import).
  3. Select the app you wanted to use.
  4. Click Get app now.

I'm always around to help should you need any further assistance in getting your trial balance imported in QuickBooks. Have a good one and stay safe!

Thanks for the prompt response Ailene. Unfortunately, the solution you provided hasn't worked.

I logged into QuickBooks from the incognito mode on my Google Chrome Browser > Selected my client from the "GO TO QUICKBOOKS" option from the top right > Selected the “Gear icon” on top right and selected “Import data” under “Tools”. But, the option to import "Trial Balances" isn't available (as you can in the screenshot below)

This is my subscription- "QuickBooks Online Accountant Standard, QuickBooks Online Plus, QuickBooks Online Payroll Enhanced". I am not the primary subscriber, I've been granted direct access from my employers accounting firm.

Your assistance regarding this matter will be highly appreciated. Thank you.

Thanks for posting here in the QuickBooks Community, @FarhatKG.

I can share some insights about this data import concern you have.

At the moment, the option to import Trial Balances is only available for QuickBooks Online India versions. This is the reason why you're unable to see this feature in your account.

Also, the article provided to you previously is intended for QBO India customers. Notice the abbreviation for "IN" in the address bar:

For now, you need to make sure you enter all the information in the client's QuickBooks account to get the Trial Balance data.

Please post here again if you have other concerns with QuickBooks that you need help with. I'll be right here to help you out. Have a good one!
