Update from qb5.0 to modern standard

Recently started working at a new place and they’ve been running qb5.0 for 1999 on an xp machine and it’s recently had a drive failure so I’m stuck with a company file I’ve made it backup of

i have quickbooks 2006 but when I try to update the file it gets stuck on updating monitored transactions and eventually spits out a 6025 runtime error

ive also tried on a win 7 32bit machine and it also gets stuck on monitored transactions and just sits there for hours

any help would be appreciated we’ve had to close up shop cause of this

Update from qb5.0 to modern standard

Hello there, KDRGREEN.

Welcome to the Community.

The issue you’re experiencing is due to your version of QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) being outdated. Typically, QuickBooks files need to be updated sequentially to avoid compatibility issues.

To resolve this, I recommend upgrading to an intermediate version, such as QuickBooks 2004 (or lower), which is closer in compatibility to QB 5.0 (1999).

Once updated through the intermediate version, proceed with restoring your file in QuickBooks 2006.

As for the file update issue, where it gets stuck on "updating monitored transactions" and then triggers a 6025 runtime error, I suggest using the QuickBooks File Doctor tool to scan for and repair any potential company file damage.

If you have any further concerns, please reach out to again. We’re always here to help.

yes but i cant open it, windows 11 doesnt do anything with it and win 7 32bit spits out a .dll missing.

the repair tool says its unable to fix our company file and i dont have any licences for quickbooks older than 2006

Try to install your v5.0 in compatibility mode Win XP on your Win 7. If you are not familiar with the process, you should contact @Fiat Lux - ASIA via email for assistance.
