Hello there, KDRGREEN.
Welcome to the Community.
The issue you’re experiencing is due to your version of QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) being outdated. Typically, QuickBooks files need to be updated sequentially to avoid compatibility issues.
To resolve this, I recommend upgrading to an intermediate version, such as QuickBooks 2004 (or lower), which is closer in compatibility to QB 5.0 (1999).
Once updated through the intermediate version, proceed with restoring your file in QuickBooks 2006.
As for the file update issue, where it gets stuck on "updating monitored transactions" and then triggers a 6025 runtime error, I suggest using the QuickBooks File Doctor tool to scan for and repair any potential company file damage.
If you have any further concerns, please reach out to again. We’re always here to help.
Do they still have the installation files for version 5.0?
yes but i cant open it, windows 11 doesnt do anything with it and win 7 32bit spits out a .dll missing.
the repair tool says its unable to fix our company file and i dont have any licences for quickbooks older than 2006
Try to install your v5.0 in compatibility mode Win XP on your Win 7. If you are not familiar with the process, you should contact @Fiat Lux - ASIA via email for assistance.
I understand what you mean now sorry, no i dont have the installation media just the QBOOKS file which contains all the files for quickbooks
when i launch the qbw.exe i get an bc450rtl.dll missing, if i put that dll in i then get another dll missing error and so on so forth
You should contact Fiat Lux in the hope that they can provide some options to consider.
