Customise Mileage Report

Im using QB Self Employed.

When generating Mileage Report I would like to show the Name of the location as well as address.

Both fields are used when entering into Miles using the Favourite Location function but unfortunately only the Address shows in the Miles Report.I use the Name to show who I am visiting as this is the only way to record Client.

How can I customise the report?

Customise Mileage Report

Hi, Speedy Duck. Customising the Mileage report is a nice functionality.

QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) currently has limited customisation options, especially when generating reports. At this time, the Mileage report primarily includes data fields like the Date, Distance, and Address, but not the custom names or labels you've entered for favorite locations.

As a workaround, I recommend exporting the data to a CSV or Excel file. Next, manually add columns to the spreadsheet program for the address and location. The process involves manual work but provides flexibility to include the necessary details.

Here's how to export your data:

  1. Go to Reports.
  2. Next to the Mileage log, select the right tax year from the drop-down menu. Doing so filters your correct trips.
  3. Click View.
  4. To get your mileage info in a CSV file, choose Download my trips or Email trips.

For detailed information, you can check out this article: Export mileage info from QuickBooks Self-Employed.

We recognize that each company has unique needs, and I can see how the feature you're looking for would benefit and empower your business. I recommend sending this request straight to our product engineers through feedback. It helps us improve the features of the program. I'll show you how:

  1. Open the QBSE application.
  2. Tap on the Assistant icon at the bottom.
  3. Type feedback in the field.
  4. Choose Add a feature.
  5. Enter and send your product suggestions.

Alternatively, you can share this idea on our QuickBooks Idea Exchange Board page. To do so, click this link: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/quickbooks-idea-exchange/idb-p/uk-idea-exchange. Then, select the Suggest an idea button. After entering your suggestion, choose Post.

Additionally, you may want to check out this article as your reference to guide you on what to do if you encounter issues tracking your work trips on your mobile devices: Fix mileage tracking issues (The article is for QuickBooks Online, but also applicable for QBSE).

You can get back on this thread to stay informed if there are any updates regarding the availability of the option. Should you have any additional inquiries about the program's features, please let us know by clicking the Reply button.
