Hi can anyone tell me why if I put in services I get also sales on my profit and loss. I have two different amounts and doubled up so wrong. How do I sort this please?

Good day, clearbook. It's my pleasure to provide the help you need with your services and sales in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

In QBO, the sales account for services is typically assigned by default. However, in some cases, a different account may have been linked to a specific service item, leading to duplication. To ensure accurate tracking and reporting of your service revenue, I suggest reviewing the account assignment for the service in question.

Additionally, the reason your services also appear on the sales in your profit and loss report depends on the account you use for your service item. To verify, we can check what account you use for the service.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Sales.
  2. Select Products & services.
  3. Look for the service item, then click Edit.
  4. Double check in the Income account what account you use.

If there are any discrepancies with the account assigned to the service, I recommend modifying it. Then we can review the Profit and Loss report for duplicates. If the same issue occurs, you can click the amount associated with the account to see the breakdown of the transaction.
