Hey Simon,
The reconciled warning does not matter as it was reconciled in error and you are making the account inactive :)
Hi simon15
You will have to make active the chart of accounts/bank account that you made in active, delete the transaction and then make the chart of account/bank account inactive again.
Hi, thanks for responding.
I tried adding the personal account back and trying Delete but it still says the account is not active. Don't think it sees the new one as the same as the old one.
I can open the transaction and change the account to my newly connected personal bank account but the balance is not the same now as it says something about creating a reconcile issue. I didn't change it.
So it appears I can't delete it?
OK
I think I worked out what it is. I originally set the entry for my current account as inactive in the Accounting page. I think that created the Expense Transaction (it had warned me it was going to do "something" to balance it out.
If I make that entry Active again then I can delete the Cheque.
I don't think any of this matters to the actual "business". It is just some legacy crud I have got stuck in QB now.
Thanks
Simon
Hello Simon,
Yes, you just need to make the account Active again within the Chart of Accounts - this will then allow you to delete the amount created when you made it inactive. You can then make the account inactive again if you do not need it, as long as there are no other transactions posting to the account.
Thanks,
Talia
Hi Talia
OK, if I try to make it inactive again it says it will make an adjusting transaction" to balance out the amount as the entry is non-zero.
I suspect if I do that then I'll get my Cheque back.
Can I not just eradicate this entry from the records. It wasn't ever a "transaction" really
Thanks
Simon
Hey simon15,
The adjusting transaction will post again to the Retained Profit Balance Forward Account with the account balance, the only way to prevent the adjustment would be to delete the transactions in the account to get the balance to 0.00 before making the account inactive.
Thanks
Hi
OK, so if I go into the Bank Account History for my personal bank account (that should have never been there in the first place) I can try to Delete the Opening Balance.
It then says the account has been reconciled and will be out next time I try to reconcile it.
Does that matter? I am trying to get rid of it anyway?
Thanks
Simon

Hi all
OK, have gone ahead and cleared the "balance" then made the account inactive and my dashboard and Accounting list are both much tidier now. The only figures I can see are for things I know about!
Thanks for the help.
Simon
