Thank you for adding your first post, @ops11. It's my pleasure to help you with extracting your data correctly.
If I may ask, may I know what report you've exported? This way, I can gather enough information on why the debit and credit amounts behave that way.
Usually, whatever data is showing up on your report, the same details should be displayed when exporting it to Excel. If your QuickBooks report has the Debit and Credit column, then the same columns will be extracted to Excel. Let me show you this screenshot as your visual reference.
For now, you can clear your browser cache before doing the process as stored files from your browser may affect this behaviour. Additionally, modify your report to narrow down the result. Here's how: Customise reports in QuickBooks Online.

Hi Angelyn.
I am using the report called "Transaction Detail by Account". I have customised it to set "group by" to none, so that it shows a continuous list of transactions. The amounts are shown in one single column and they are all either positive or negative.
Ideally I need all debits to show as positive and all credits to show as negative (or vice versa). But this doesn't happen because amounts in creditor/equity accounts get converted to positive credits and negative debits.
Hello Ops11, thanks for coming back to us there is no way to do this, you can only customsie it with what it shows in the customise section. We would suggest you leave it as feedback within the main cog wheel.
