How does QB deal with Personal Spending transactions when calculating the year-end tax report? Are they included in the Profit figure?

Personal spending

Hello Rachel8,

As personal spending is not income to your business it would not be included within your profit, if you are unsure of this we would advise to speak to an accountant.

Thanks

Hi Rachel8

If you have categorised transactions as personal they will not be populated within the P&L or Taxes section.

So they're not included in the end of year profit figure, even though they are technically a profit?

Personal spending

Hi Rachel, I'm self employed and my understanding is that any money that comes in to the business is income.  If you then decide to spend some of this money for personal spending out of the business account, those transactions will not be classed as expenses but the original income will still contribute to your overall income that is used to work out net profit.

If you look at the figure it shows for take home pay and the net profit figure in the P&L report, my understanding is the difference in these two figures is your personal spending.

Hope that makes sense.
