Why does my Profit and Loss report show Car, Van and Travel expenses as zero but Tax summary shows the correct figure?
Hello there, @MIKER1.
I'd be glad to help you today so you'll be able to generate your Profit and Loss (P&L) report correctly.
To help us check why your P&L report shows Car, van and travel expenses as zero but has the correct figure on the Tax summary, is by checking the date range of the report you've opened. It's possible that the report's date isn't customized/filtered correctly.
To customize the report's date range:

For further details about car, van, and travel expenses, you can check this article: About car, van, and travel expenses.
Stay posted if you have any other questions about running reports in QuickBooks Self-Employed. I'll be always here to help you!
Thank you Angelyn.
I did check the date as you suggested. It correctly showed last tax year. I also manually entered the start and finish dates and nothing changed. Everything else on the Profit and Loss report is correct. I do understand how the simplified expense method works and car, van and travel expenses show correctly on the home page and tax summary. I have not used the automatic mileage tracking but have manually entered all my business trips.
Thank you for your help.
