I can help you achieve it, @ian58.
Before anything else, what type of transaction reports you’re trying to access?
If you’re generating a Transaction Journal report, you can use the Description field to display the product code. Just make sure the Item/Service code option on the Transaction page is added so you can copy the info easily.
In case you need a reference on how to apply the column on sales forms and run the report, check out the steps below:
- Select the + New button.
- Click Invoice.
- Hit the Gear icon on the right top.
- Under Optional Columns, select Item/Service code.

- Go back to the Transaction page and make sure to copy and paste the product code in the Description field.
- Run Transaction Journal by clicking More below.

On the other hand, if you’re trying to access other transaction reports, please know that the QuickBooks Online report feature varies and depends on the information included in an event. Since item codes won’t appear directly on reports without attaching them to the description or memo field, you can send feedback to our Product Development team to possibly get it added in the future.
In the meantime, you may consider the recommendation above or export your chosen report to Excel and add the product code manually to the spreadsheet.
QuickBooks Online provides you the flexibility to generate statements to gain insights about your business. If you’re interested to learn more about it and tracking vendor and sales transactions from start to finish using report features, feel free to access this reference: Run reports in QuickBooks Online.
