Import journal entries into QBO Advanced

I found this article by searching the help community. https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-au/help-articles/journal-entry-import-in-quickbooks-o... However, when I go to "Import Data", there is no option to select journal entries to import. Am I missing something? This is a standard feature with any accounting system so I can't imagine it does not exist.

Import journal entries into QBO Advanced

@AmyS

As far as I know, this new feature is only available in certain QBO version (e.g AU, UK)

https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-uk/help-articles/import-journal-entries-in-quickbooks...

If you are using QBO Advanced, I am not sure when the feature is available in QBO US version. For the time being, utilize the trial period of TP Importer.

Import journal entries into QBO Advanced

Thank you for sharing the article, @AmyS.

Upon checking our test accounts and the test drive, you should be able to import your journal entries directly from the Import Data feature. May I know when did you start your account?

Currently, the function to import your journal entries is available to all newly subscribed accounts. With this, I recommend contacting our Customer Care Support so someone can check your account details and be able to import your journal entries.

  1. Go to Help.
  2. Tap Contact Us.
  3. Enter Import Journal Entry in the What can we help you with? field.
  4. Click Let's talk.
  5. Select Get a callbackChat, or Call us.

Lastly, here's a few articles you can read for ideas about how you can manage your account and related transactions: Help Articles for QuickBook Online.

Keep me posted in the comments if you have any other questions. I'll be here to lend a hand

I appreciate you for getting back to us, AmyS.

The option to import the Journal Entries differ on what country you're in. That said, I'd recommend reaching out to our Phone Support team. An agent will take a look at your account to verify your subscription and your subscribed country.

Unfortunately this is not available on our version (US version)  though we are paying high fees monthly. Most advanced subscription activated. (Further upgrade is not available)

QBO team must enable this feature immediately for us

Let's ensure this option will be available in your version, SuperStar777.

I can see how useful is the journal import process feature when using QuickBooks Online (QBO). This allows you to create journal entries by uploading an Excel file that contains the journal information to the system. Apart from this, this saves data entry time when you need to enter multiple journals, or journals with multiple lines.

You'll want to send feedback to let our product team know how this feature is important for your business. To do so, follow the steps outlined below:

  1. Go to the Gear icon at the top, then Feedback.
  2. Enter your comments or product suggestions. Then click Next to submit feedback.

Your request and valuable feedback go to our Product Development team to help improve your experience in QBO. Learn how to track feature requests through the QuickBooks Online Feature Requests website.

Furthermore, QuickBooks provides different kinds of report that shows the information you need most. Learn how to customize them so they show the right data: Customize Reports In QuickBooks Online

Keep your post coming if you have further questions about journal entries. We are always right here if you need help.

@SuperStar777

Don't expect too much. I wouldn't be surprised if ProAdvisors in the US balked at the idea of letting QBO users be able to import JE themselves. You have to use the importer tool

The QBO help as of Jan 2024 says the JE Import function is active.

But it's not.

For another $500 I can use Transaction Pro to do it. What is going on?

Let me shed some light on importing journal entries in QuickBooks Online, cbcav.

In QuickBooks Online UK, you can import journal entries in all versions. If the option is not visible on your end, we can perform basic troubleshooting steps to rectify this.

Here are the keyboard shortcuts you can use:

  • Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge: Ctrl+ Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Option + P

If the option for importing journal entries shows up, return to your regular browser and clear your cache. Accumulated cache and cookies in the system can become outdated or corrupted, leading to unexpected issues. You can also switch to other installed supported browsers, which is a good alternative.

Additionally, before importing your journal entries, ensure everything in your spreadsheet looks correct.

Make sure that your file includes the following information:

  • Journal No. and Date
  • Journal Code
  • Account Name
  • Journal
  • Debits and Credits
  • Select date format

If your spreadsheet contains new accounts, it's necessary to add them to your chart of accounts before importing.

Here are the steps to import journal entries:

  1. Hover over the Gear icon, then select Import data.
  2. Select Journal Entries.
  3. On the Download page, select Browse. You can select Download a sample file if you need help formatting your journal entries.
  4. Find and select your CSV file. Select Open, then Next.
  5. Map your information. Your Field represents the headers on your spreadsheet. Click each small arrow dropdown icon, and choose the one that matches a field in QuickBooks Online.
  6. Select Next. If you encounter an error, edit the file and try again.
  7. Select Start import, then hit Done.

Furthermore, you can reverse and delete a journal entry to ensure your records are accurate. You can also generate a journal report to view a list of all your entries.

Thanks.

Intuit does not enable the JE import feature in the US.

Must work for it to be enabled in other countries, so it's just another way to demand more money from us in the US.
