Hi there, bongani-verdantf.
I'd be glad to share some information about your financial reports in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
Unrealized gain or loss would show up in your reports if there's a home currency adjustment. You can follow these steps to review the adjustments that were made in the Revalue history tab:
Here's an article you can refer to for more details about frequently asked questions about Home Currency adjustments.
In addition, I've included the following article to help you if you want to control the data that appears on your reports: Customise reports in QuickBooks Online.
Feel free to get back to me if you have additional questions about Exchange gain or loss in QBO. Have a good one.
Hi Bongani-verdantf
We have the same issue.
Have you find a solution ?
Thank for your answer

Hi Céline, thanks for joining this thread - do you have home currency adjustments showing when running the report following the steps above?
Hi,
I'm a new QB user and have come across the same issue as a Celine and Bongani. QB has an option to show unrealised gains and losses on a separate line in the P&L and also show a BS view of the effect of the movement to the Retained earnings and profit for the period figure. The issue is the TB view totally ignores this movement and shows a retained earnings figure and proft for the period figure net of the unrealised gains and losses there is no option to show this in the TB report.
If you decide unselect the tick box for unrealised gains & losses to be shown separately in your P&L and BS report the figures are still affected by the value. My question is why cant this figure which plays a pivotal value in the Net profit result and will influence decisions made post financial year closure not affect the Trial balance report. I can run a TB that shows our prior year opening balances for the Accountants and to manually adjust the TB post download doesnt bode well with me. Thanks
Hello Mdawini_23, thanks for posting on this thread, we have passed on what you are saying to the team and it may be something that does come in the future.
