why do I not see a cost price on the stock valuation report even if the item has a cost price in the file?

I'll share some information about how the Stock/Inventory Valuation Detail report works, golfprogreg.

 

The Cost section displays the amount of money a unit is sold for. The actual cost price of the items that you sell are shown in the Avg Cost column. Take a look at my screenshots below:

If you're unable to see the cost price, we can run the Verify and Rebuild utilities. It could be that there's a damage in the company file causing this discrepancy. Here's how to do it:

 

  1. Choose Window, then hit Close All.
  2. Go to the File menu, then select Utilities.
  3. Click Verify Data.

 

If QuickBooks detected no issues, then no further action is needed. If you've noticed that your data has lost its integrity, you'll have to rebuild it to correct the problem.

 

  1. Head to the File menu.
  2. Choose Utilities, then Rebuild Data.
  3. Follow the onscreen instruction to create a backup and run the tool.
  4. Click OK when the process is completed.
