I've accidentally deleted last year's imported csv transactions file... can this be restored?????

If not, I've lost all my transaction data for the entire tax year.

Accidentally deleted all transactions for one tax year

Welcome to the Community, Willis.

Let me give you information on retrieving your deleted transactions in your QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE).

In QBSE, once you have deleted your transaction, there is no direct way to restore it. However, you can re-import the CSV transaction files to your QBSE account, by downloading the transaction from your bank and then manually uploading them to your account.

You can read a thorough guideline on uploading your transactions in this article: Manually import transactions into QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Let me know if you have additional questions about recovering your transaction in QBSE. I’m just a post away.

Thanks for your reply Irene...Happy New Year to you.

I cannot find Audit Log feature anywhere on QBSE...is this feature unavailable on QBSE as it is not listed when I open "settings" (the gear icon)??

Your help would be most welcome.

Kind regards

Accidentally deleted all transactions for one tax year

Hey there, 8888willis1.

My colleague did some clarifications regarding being able to retrieve your deleted transactions.

In QuickBooks Self-Employed, recovering your transactions is unavailable.  This explains why you're unable to find the Audit Log in your Gear icon. As an alternative, you can import the same transactions in your account.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon located in your upper right hand.
  2. Under the Transactions column, click the Import Transactions option.
  3. Choose what account you'd want to import your transactions with and then click the Import older transactions option located in the Action column.
  4. Click the Browse option and then click Open
  5. Review the data, then ensure that the Date, Description, and Amount columns match the columns and order in QuickBooks.
  6.  Select Continue

To learn more about importing your transactions, you can refer to this guide: Manually import transactions into QuickBooks Self-Employed.

After importing, you can visit this material since it contains information regarding categorizing the transactions you download from your bank or enter into QuickBooks: Categorize transactions in QuickBooks Self-Employed.
