Audit log - Column for original transaction date and amount missing

The structure of the Audit log screen has changed recently.

The old log showed significantly more data as below:

QBO Old auditlog.JPG

The new log is below:

QBO current Auditlog.JPG

The Customize button does not offer any additional columns to the 4 shown above. I have looked at it using an Incognito window and it is the same.

How do I get back to the old audit log structure as I used the Date column to track late adjustments?

Audit log - Column for original transaction date and amount missing

Hello Csacs101, There's not a way to change back to the old audit log, there was feedback that the filters were not user friendly, though many factors go into changes within the product such as how often parts of features are used and how user friendly they are as well as if there or any negative impacts on other sides of the product brought up or common errors that a change would resolve. You can go to the expenses section on the left-hand side, all expenses, and filter that by date which will show all expenses entered in that time or use the magnifying glass and advanced search in the top right and search by transaction type expense/bill and date range as an alternative.

Audit log - Column for original transaction date and amount missing

Hello Csacs101, Not at all I did not catch the create date was needed to be filtered. I see all you could do which I m guessing you have seen in the audit log would be all users>date changed >make that this month>events>to all transactions and then it will show transactions that the audit log has picked up changes to/creation within that month however yes it will not then have the date of the transaction itself only date changed/added and you would have to view it to see the transaction date. Other options for the create date would be running a supplier balance detail report and in the top right hitting customise>in add columns>adding the create date column which would show when the transactions were created, you could filter the report by transaction date and have the create date column in there but I do see that is not really what you are looking for, just wanted to bring up there is a create date option to add on those reports.

Audit log - Column for original transaction date and amount missing

Hello Csacs100,

Welcome to the Community page,

There is no way to have the date column to show only the date changed column, this will show the original date on what date the transaction created or original date of the said activities.

Audit log - Column for original transaction date and amount missing

Hi Ashleigh.

Thank you for your reply.

My query was really about how I ended up with a reduced number of columns in the Audit log. I used the audit log to track late adjustments to a particular month of transaction, rather than the date the transaction was changed which is all the audit log now tells me.

If somebody enters a supplier invoice which we have just received, but which related to 3 months ago, how do I find that particular invoice? Historically, I filtered the audit log for transactions entered this month (Date changed column), then sorted by Date (which was the transaction date) and could then see transactions entered this period for prior periods. I don't even have a Name (Customer, Supplier) to narrow the filed of query down.

I can no longer do that (from what I can see). What was historically a useful feature appears to have been removed by QBO, without user consultation (I wasn't, though there is perhaps a user consultation forum which I am not a member of), resulting in an inferior product being offered for the same price.

If QBO allowed one to shut down a particular prior period so historical transactions had to be entered into the current period, with the correct transaction date (Sun, Microsoft Dynamics etc. permit this), then this wouldn't be an issue.

Historical trial balances and monthly profit and loss reports keep changing in QBO as old prior period entries get entered which means I continually have to reconcile old periods to understand what has changed.

If there is an option to go back to the old way of showing the audit log can you please let me know, failing which can you please let me know an easy way to find transactions entered in the current period which relate to prior periods?

Thanks

Audit log - Column for original transaction date and amount missing

Hi Emma,

I have just tried that, but that only appears to allow me to filter by the transaction date. I want to filter by transaction date and the date the entry was entered so I can find entries entered this month that related to prior periods, which I could do using the old audit log.

Perhaps I misunderstood your reply?

Thanks Emma,

Unfortunately, it would appear from your reply, there does not appear to be an easy way to reconcile prior period movements since the audit log structure change.

Is there a public forum where QBO discuss potential changes which users can review and comment on?
