I appreciate you for adding your first post here in the Community, Ian.
Yes, you can add PO numbers to your invoices in QuickBooks Online (QBO). I'm here to share with you the details. At this time, you can add the PO numbers through the Description section of your invoices, or you can use a custom field (if you are using the essentials or plus package). To add a custom field, I'm adding this article as your reference: How to add custom fields to sales forms and purchase orders.
Let me know if you have any other questions while handling your forms and sales transactions in QBO by adding a comment below. I'm always here to help. Have a good one!

Can I add PO numbers using the Quickbooks app on my iphone or ipad? As the customer fields do not appear on the app.
Hi ian-tanton, it's only possible to add custom fields when using the full (web) version of QuickBooks.
Additionally, this feature is only available on QuickBooks Advanced, Plus, and Essentials. As you're using our Simple Start edition, you'd need to upgrade your account to access. Upgrading allows you instant access to additional features and keeps all of your original data. If you have any Q's, get back to us below!
Hi I do have essentials. I upgraded some time ago so that I could add customised fields. And I can indeed add customised fields on the Web version. Its very disappointing that this upgrade is not mirrored in the app version of the software. That was obvious when I upgraded. I guess that will be an additional charge at sometime in the future.
Hi Ian, the app is more for things on the go, some things have to be done on the web version, we do appreciated what you have said and will pass it on.
