when I manually enter a cheque payment because my bank doesn't link up with quickbooks it is showing up as cash. how can I change this please?

There is no way of changing it every manual transaction created will go to the cash account as that is what a cash account is for.
it makes no difference to the tax summary which one it goes into and there is no running bank balance in self-employed so there is no need to change it if you could.
