Hi , trying to send an invoice . When I click save and send it displays an error in a red box saying “ please add payment method “?

In QuickBooks Online (QBO), we can check the audit log to see if any changes have been made since the last time you sent an invoice, ben. We will also perform some basic browser troubleshooting steps to determine what is causing the error to appear.

Audit log records all account activity in the audit log such as user sign-ins, changes to QuickBooks settings, edits to customers, vendors, employees, and payroll submissions. QuickBooks records the following in the audit log:

  • The date of any change to your books
  • The name of the user who made the change
  • The type of change or event
  • The name of any customer or vendor related to the change
  • Any original transaction date and amount

Also, events recorded in the audit log are available for two years.

Before we begin using the audit log, please ensure that you sign in as an admin to access it.

To use the audit log, here's how:

  1. Go to Settings and select Audit log.
  2. Select Filter.
  3. Use the fields on the Filter panel to choose the appropriate UserDate, or Events filter to narrow the results.
  4. Select Apply.

After checking the audit log, and if nothing has changed since the last time you sent an invoice, we can try these browser troubleshooting steps to rule out any potential webpage issues. Let's start by opening your account in an incognito or private window.

Here are the following keyboard shortcuts:

  • Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge: Ctrl+ Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Option + P
