In January 2024, I reported a simple bug with the iOS / iPhone app.
In the invoices list screen (on the iOS app) invoices show as “NOT SENT”, when they should show as “SENT” (as they had been sent).
Each individual invoice shows the correct status. It is just the invoice list where the wrong status is being shown.
The cloud / web app at qbo.intuit.com shows the correct status everywhere, so it’s just the iOS app that’s wrong.
In June 2024, I received an update from Quickbooks support saying…
The engineering team have now completed their investigation and have advised at this time that the resolution to the behaviour you are experiencing will need to be treated as and included in an enhancement project.
We do not have a time frame available for enhancement projects but please rest assured that this will be prioritised against ongoing work.
It’s now June 2025, and the bug remains, hence my question.
How many years do I have to wait for this bug to be fixed in the iOS app?
Separately, I also reported that the Total Invoice Amount Overdue / Not Due Yet, differs on the web app vs iOS app.
The iOS app includes invoices “due today” as being overdue in the Total Overdue. The web app doesn’t include them.
The reason it particularly bothered me was when the iOS wasn’t syncing correctly, and data was missing. The ability to compare totals shown in both the iOS app / Web App was an easy way to check syncing was fixed.
I reported this bug, and eventually heard back that “it wasn’t a problem that the totals weren’t the same” and the iOS app wouldn’t be modified.
It feels like the iOS app (and maybe Android) don’t receive the same care and attention as the web app.
Almost all our users exclusively use the iOS app on their iPhones (they are engineers out on the road) so we are really affected if iOS bugs take ages to fix.
Thank you for detailing your concerns, James. I know how important it is for your team to have reliable tools, especially when working in the field, and I appreciate you taking the time to share how these issues with the iOS app are affecting your workflow.
The invoice status issue and the discrepancy in totals between the iOS and web apps have been flagged to our engineering team. These fixes are tied to larger development priorities, and as a result, we don’t have a specific timeline for when they might be implemented.
You’ve raised a great point about the mobile app not offering the same functionalities as the web browser version. QuickBooks Online (QBO) was originally developed as a browser-first experience, and while the mobile apps provide access to core features, the web version offers a more complete toolkit for advanced functionalities and custom workflows.
Mobile apps are continuously evolving, and we’re working to bring more features and improvements to mobile, but it does take time to ensure they work seamlessly within the mobile environment. Your feedback also makes it clear how heavily your team relies on the iOS app in the field. I’ve shared your concerns internally and will keep advocating for more focus on mobile improvements to ensure it better supports businesses like yours.
I’m sharing an article with details about the latest features we’ve added based on customer feedback: See what's new with estimates and invoices.
Thank you again for sharing your thoughts, it helps us understand where we need to improve. If there’s anything else you’d like to discuss or if I can assist further, feel free to reach out anytime.
