I cannot upload the transactions CSV file form my bank to quickbooks.

I’ve got a few things to help you successfully import your CSV file to QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE), drlucymelville.

First off, may I know which specific bank you are using? I would greatly appreciate any further details so I can provide accurate information.

An error in uploading your CSV file to QBSE is usually caused by an incorrectly formatted file. To ensure a successful import, you must first verify that your file adheres to the required structure, which is either a 3-column format (Date, Description, Amount) or a 4-column format (Date, Description, Credit, Debit), checking for any missing required columns. Once the column structure is correct, you need to fix common data errors, such as incorrect date formats.

To learn more about CSV formats, you can check out this article: Format CSV files in Excel to get bank transactions into QuickBooks. Although this guide is for QuickBooks Online, the CSV format requirements are the same for QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE).

Once everything is working, you can now follow the steps below to import your data into QBSE. Here’s how:

  1. Click the Gear icon and choose Import transactions.
  2. Choose the account where you want to upload the CSV file.
  3. Select Import older transactions under the Action column.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to upload your file.

You can always get back to this thread if you have other concerns or questions. We’re always here to help.
