Can any body tell me how to stop the the Name of the person on the customer record being entered on the Invoice "Billing Address" and "Delivery Address" panels....... it is not applicable at all, and probably so for many business's, the customer record for us invariably has the buyers name or the business owners name, it is not them that get the delivery or the invoice, but the company....... yet another oversite of how business actually operate rather than how product development in QB thinks it should happen....... I have never been contacted to ask my opinoin what is required in the online version. the Desktop Pro version was brilliant........ but if your journey started with Online, then you will never know the beauty that was Desktop Pro!
(like the name, by the way!)
Welcome to the perpetual workaround that is QBO.
Short answer - you can't!
You need to go to Customer Record > Edit & delete everything shown in Title/First name/Middle name/Last name/Suffix.
That might upset the Customer display name field but you can enter anything into this box (even though it shows as a dropdown).
Use the Notes section to keep relevant information (Buyer's Name, Owner's Name, etc)
Hope this helps.
Hi Paul
Thanks, I thought so too.
I had actually worked that one out over the weekend.
As I am learning really rapidly QBO is not fit for purpose...... and I can't believe they actually think it is. There is so much wrong with it if you have been a QBD user as I have for 25 years.
And I have 13 days to migrate my larger company, as I can't operate with the tools QBO have....... might try Zero as an option.
I trialled Zero/Xero a few years ago before moving from QBD to QBO but I can't say I found it to be any more 'complete' than QBO or any of the other 'mass market' cloud offerings. They're all after the same market and, unfortunately, that is NOT the QBD Power User (such as yourself). Not to put too fine a point on it, there is far more money in selling monthly subscriptions of a just-good-enough product to half-a-million butchers/bakers/candlestickmakers than there is in selling an all-singing-all-dancing product to a few thousand more complex businesses.
Luckily, I was able to dumb everything down sufficiently that QBO just about covers everything I now ask it to do (anything complex, I do outside of QBO & import the gist of what's been done).
