Thanks for using QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE), Ben.
Yes, you should still record your petrol receipts. This way, you'd be able to keep track of your vehicle expense. Then, by the time you file your taxes, you'll know the total of your deductions.
I'll show you how to record your petrol receipts.
- Go to the Transaction menu.
- Select Add Transaction.
- Enter the amount and a description.
- Mark it as Business
- Select the Select a category menu and use Car and Track for the expense category.
- If you have a receipt, you can drag and drop it onto the form.
- Once done, click Save.

I've also added these article that you can utilize for reference. These let you track your mileage automatically and learn more about your categories.
Let me know if you have other follow-up questions about managing your mileage and trips. I'm always around to lend a helping hand. Stay safe!
