This is not about adjusting stock quantity. It is about adjusting stock VALUE, and QBO can't do it, just like it can't do lots of other things that accounting software should be able to do.
Hi Egbert Nosh My apologies, the post should have stated stock value... As previously posted we have submitted your feedback to our developers.
This is not true. The software doesn't do basic things that are essential in business. For example including the stock part number on a purchase order. This is essential, I raised this when we moved to QBO over a year ago. Its been with the developers ever since. Stock shrinkage has massive issues around it. You cant adjust value and write down stock, and adjusting quantities of parts is almost impossible, as you have to add each item individually. It's hopeless, absolute junk. And again there is no support at all that is helpful.
I would really like this too
I have lots of items with no stock quantity but with residual values (I think due to rounding issue as we buy in currency)
There are 100s of items clogging up my stock inventory report and I cannot find anyway to write off these sundry value. Show only non-zero items doens;t do the trick as the items have a value (just no quantiry).
It is pretty standard to be able to adjust your inventory valuation....

The option to write off stock value is unavailable in QuickBooks Online (QBO), Sandra. You can only adjust the quantity of the inventories and not the value or amount.
I can see how having this option would be beneficial to your business. I recommend submitting a feature request so our dedicated software engineers can carefully review your suggestion and potentially incorporate it into future product implementations.
To do that:
I've added these resources that will assist you in managing your stock effectively in QuickBooks:
We truly appreciate your input and the time you've taken to share it with the Community. Feel free to reach out if you have other questions about stocks in QBO. We're always here to answer your queries. Take care.
Hi Sandra,
I see you have been given the standard auto generated and patronising answer that is always given when requesting a basic accounting feature is added to QBO. Don't waste your time, as they will do nothing about it. I've not seen a single useful feature added to this pisspoor program since we had to switch eighteen months ago, and no amount of Intuit pasting 'New Enhanced Features' all over the place will make any difference.
Unfortunately, if you need to do any serious accounting, then you won't be able to do it on QBO.
I'm going to raise this as a ticket with support. The issue is impacting over 50% of my products and no way to correct!
Have done this more than once over the last year.
NOTHING BACK WHATSOEVER
