QB Desktop is being discontinued and I am trying to set up QB online. We use stock control and never need to do stock takes (rare checks and adjustments) We buy raw plastic and make products from it and some we assemble together.
Desktop receives the purchased stock parts, reduces stock part when we build stock assembly and increases stock assembly. Then reduces stock assembly when we deliver and invoice.
Stock part 1 (Purchase ordered from supplier & received with bill)
Stock Part 2 (Purchase ordered from supplier & received with bill)
Stock Assembly 1 (we build assembly from Stock part 1)
Stock Assembly 2 (We build assembly from Stock part 2)
Stock Assembly 1+2 (We build assemble these together)
Invoice Stock Assembly 1+2
How do I do this in QB Online is this all done with bundle?
QBO doesn't offer any assembly feature. Consider having a 3rd party app to integrate with QBO.
Hello Spider Webster,
Welcome to the Community page,
In QuickBooks Online it doesn't offer features like the desktop product and you may wish to look at a 3rd party app that works with QuickBooks Online. Here is also some articles to look at that are all about stock and how it works in QuickBooks online.
Set up and track your stock in QuickBooks Online
Basically QBO doesn't do stock control then.
The link you post "set up and track your stock in QB online" says Quickbooks has everything you need to manage your stock. You may as well have a piece of paper and if you have 500 stock write 500. If you use 50 scribble it out and write 450 except that QBO doesn't show anything you have scribbled out.
I have looked at the apps for stock control and most of them want to take over many of the things I have paid for already in QBO. Cin7 Omni £599/mth Katana cant see any integration with QBO, ERPAG $49 but double the work with QBO, Wherefor 499 month?
Our company has got where it is today by knowing what's going on, what stock we have every day and giving our customers a superb service by knowing where we are due to QBD.
We first bought QBD in 1997 on 4 floppy disks as the only accounting software available for windows at that time, all others were DOS. It is very sad that we will be forced to go backwards. we add stock from 6 machines each day plus assembly parts produced from the machines. We will now have to alter stock each day plus reduce raw material and also have no history records of anything, and do physical stock takes, a lot more work.
Delivery notes have been copied and modified for Certificate of Conformity's and also tooling delivery sheets. Purchase orders have been copied and renamed Goods received labels adding batch numbers for attaching to materials for traceability. All these things and more have been lost in QBO.
Quickbooks has become Slowbooks.
Whoever works in php, sql, html, javascript needs to get it sorted or you will loose customers.
I understand how important it is to have a stock control feature in QuickBooks, @Spider Webster.
