Unable to delete excluded transaction

Deleting excluded transactions depends on the product you're using, @stefanbest0794. I've got everything you need to start from scratch.

Before anything else, may I ask your QuickBooks currently using?

If you're using QuickBooks Self-employed, removing excluded transactions within the Transactions page isn't possible. Entries downloaded from your bank can only be Excluded.

On the other hand, the Delete option will show when we remove the transaction individually. Please see the attached screenshots for your visual reference.

You may consider deleting your account to start fresh or hide your bank account if you don't want to see all the transactions to stops QuickBooks from downloading new transactions, and keep all the existing data.

Please be aware if you delete a connected bank account in QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE), all linked bank transactions will also be removed. Reconnecting your bank account and importing your bank transactions can help restore any lost transactions.

Check the following instructions below on how to disconnect your account:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and select Manage accounts.
  2. Navigate to your bank and click the Trash Can icon.
  3. A prompt will appear. Please read it carefully.
  4. To proceed, enter DELETE in the designated field and click the Delete button.

When done and you're ready to import your transactions again in the program, you can simply follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Settings icon and click Import transactions.
  2. Click on the option to import transactions.
  3. Click on Browse to locate the CSV you created.
  4. Follow the on-screen steps to import bank transactions.

However, if you're using QuickBooks Online, you can go to the Excluded tab to delete the transactions completely:

  1. Go to Transactions.
  2. Go to the Excluded tab.
  3. Put a checkmark in the date box to batch delete.
  4. Click the the Delete option to confirm.

We can also utilize the purge process to delete your existing data in QuickBooks Online, this option is available only within the first 90 days of creating your account.

To avoid duplicate transactions in the future, you can create bank rules to categorise bank transactions automatically.

If you have clarifications removing banking transactions in QuickBooks. You can count on me in to verify it further in the comment section.

This is such poor quality of app design if you cannot do a basic delete function.

Is there a way I can just start fresh with this account? I just paid for a new subscription as well.

I understand that you may have a hard time navigating QuickBooks functionality as you're just in the process of exploring it, @stefanbest0794. No worries, I'm here to enlighten you on how the delete function works based on your QuickBooks product and guide you through the steps to start fresh with your account.

Before anything else, may I know which specific product you're using? Any additional information would be greatly appreciated, as this will help me provide a solution that aligns with your product.

In the meantime, let's discuss how to start fresh with the QuickBooks Self-Employed or QuickBooks Online accounts below.

To begin with, to start fresh with the QuickBooks Self-Employed account, you can have the option to disconnect your accounts and delete all related transactions. It will permanently delete all associated transactions, including categorised ones.

To get started, kindly follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to your QBSE account.
  2. Click on the Settings icon and select Manage Accounts.

  3. Find the account you want to delete.
  4. Click on the trash bin icon.

  5. Type DELETE in the box and select Delete to confirm.
  6. Then, manually import the bank transactions again.

On the other hand, if you're utilizing the QBO product and your account has been active within 90 days of signup, let's purge your current subscription and start a new one. Otherwise, cancel your subscription, then start again for your newly paid subscription.

For complete steps to purge the company or cancel the subscription, please check out this article: Delete your data and start over in QuickBooks Online.

Meanwhile, my colleague updated his response regarding the delete function in detail. Kindly review his answer above for more information.

To prevent duplicate transactions, we can set up bank rules to categorise bank transactions automatically. All you need to do is to double-check them for accurate categorisation.

We're looking forward to your accurate banking experience, and it's our responsibility to address any problems you encounter. Let us know if there's anything we can assist you with. Take care.
