Change date on VAT refund

I posted a refund of VAT to the bank account for the last return in the normal way. However, I accidentally put the wrong date on the transaction. The system now won't let me edit or delete the transaction from the bank register. Is there any way I can correct this? The amount is correct but the date of receipt is wrong.

Change date on VAT refund

Hi, Richard.

You need to delete the VAT refund from the Taxes page, then recreate the transactions using the correct date. I'll guide you on how.

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account.
  2. Click on Taxes at the left pane, then select VAT.
  3. Go to the Payments section, then look for the VAT refund.
  4. Select on Delete under Action.
  5. Click Yes to confirm the action.

After that, the transaction will now appear in the Returns section. From there, re-enter the refund using the correct date.

  1. Choose the transaction, then tap on Record refund under Action.
  2. Fill in the correct information including the date and amount.
  3. Hit Save.

Once done, you're now able to change the date of the VAT refund.

For more tips about recording VAT payment or refund in QBO, you can open this article: Record a VAT payment or refund [Video].
