Hi there, info2332. We appreciate you reaching out in the Community forum.
Please know that
unfiling a VAT return in QuickBooks only allows your accountant to correct or adjust a previous return to ensure your records remain accurate and compliant with HMRC regulations.
However, if a VAT return has already been submitted to HMRC, it cannot be unfiled or deleted, as it is already officially recorded. To confirm whether the return was successfully submitted, QuickBooks Online should provide the filing status in the VAT center.
If you see "Submitted to HMRC" next to the return, it means the submission was successful. If you're unable see the "Unfile" or "Delete" option but still believe changes are needed, we recommend
contacting the QuickBooks Customer Phone support team directly. They can review your account setup and guide you in filing or deleting the VAT return where applicable.
Here's how:
- Sign in to your QuickBooks Online account.
- Click on the Help icon located in the top-right corner.
- Scroll down and select the Contact Us option.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to describe your issue.
