I cannot file my vat return but did last months with no issues .can anyone advise me on what to do?

Hi @sc70,

 

Let me help you out by sharing a possible cause of why you're unable to submit your VAT return.

 

We can’t connect to HMRC right now

 

You get this message when the entered credentials supposed to connect QuickBooks Online (QBO) to HMRC aren't authorised to do a VAT filing as per the VAT registration number in the VAT settings.

 

Possible causes:

  • You haven't signed up for Making Tax Digital (MTD) yet.
  • You have signed up for MTD recently but aren't set up on HMRC yet. You should receive a confirmation email from HMRC regarding this.
  • You have used a different or incorrect login detail.

Here are some steps you can try:

  1. Click on Learn More in the VAT centre. If you haven't signed up yet then it will lead you to the registration page.
  2. Confirm that you're able to submit your VAT return by making sure you've received an email notification from HMRC.
  3. Also, check if you have entered the correct VAT registration number.
