I've recently changed vat period dates with Hmrc and I would expect to complete 1 month return to mar-21 but have no email notification reminder. Should I submit anyway

Hi there, dwhite2.

Thanks for checking out the Community space.

With regard to your tax return submission, I'd recommend directly reaching out to HMRC. This is to ensure that your returns are aligned with their tax rules and regulations. You may visit this website to connect with them: Contact HMRC.

After checking with the HMRC, follow the steps below in changing your VAT period dates in QuickBooks Online if you haven't done it yet:

  1. Select Taxes from the sidebar menu,
  2. Go to the VAT tab.
  3. Click the Edit VAT drop-down list and then choose Edit settings.
  4. Set the new period dates.
  5. Once done, click Save.

When you're all set up and ready, you may now start submitting your tax return. You can read the articles below to be guided in doing it:

Additionally, take note that HMRC will not send out confirmation emails for MTD VAT returns. We'll be the ones to notify you about its status.

If you need some resources in handling your taxes and VAT transactions in QuickBooks, you can always browse a topic on our Help Articles page.

Our doors are always open to help you with any questions and concerns you may have. Take care and have a pleasant day ahead.
