It may be a browser relate issue, we would be grateful if you can clear the cache and cookies on your browser and attempt to access the Taxes section again.
I've done that but it hasn't helped I'm afraid
I've tried again with Chrome and I can get in, so perhaps it is a MS Edge issue?

That's great news that you are able to access the taxes section. Edge and Internet browser are not fully supported by the QuickBooks platform and as such user occasionally experience issues such as you have.
yes, me today, tried clearing cache et al but only get green circle!
