I prepared and attempted to file my VAT return with HMRC through QuickBooks Online but the return status is now showing as Rejected with the following message:
HMRC has rejected your VAT return. Call them on 0300 200 3700 and quote internal error code INTERNAL_SERVER_ERROR so they can take a closer look.
I have gone into my HMRC account online and the VAT return is showing as being submitted successfully.
How can I mark the return as filed in QuickBooks rather than rejected?
I understand the importance of marking the return as filed in QuickBooks Online (QBO), RhiannaWP. I have some information to share to answer your inquiry about this.
Our system shows there is an open investigation (INV-116084) regarding the error message you've encountered when filing your VAT return through QBO.
Our engineering team is already looking into this issue to sort this out. We've also created a tracking list of all affected users. Everyone on this list will be notified once the error message has been resolved.

Thank you - though your advice on how to access help is not accurate for my version of QB - there is no option to select QB Online Support (step 4). After going round in circles for a while I finally managed to start a chat, and after just under an hour later managed to get my name added to the list!
