Hello soundd,
Exceptions are generated when a transaction which was filed in a previous return within QuickBooks is edited (for example, the VAT code is changed) or a transaction is added to QuickBooks which is dated prior to the start date of the open return, and cannot be deleted as they are genuine. If you changed or added a transaction in error you can undo the exception by correcting the transaction itself. Please let me know if this does not line with the change you have made.
Thanks

I was trying to simplify the the view of my transactions for my accountant, and after changing the paye discription quicken seemed to think it was a company expense which involved Vat, and i couldnt find a way to change the fact it read Exceptions in my Vat return [ which in my mind give's customs and excise cause for concern ] going back and changing things can be just as innocent as guilty, right now i feel quicken has just thrown a flag up to the Vat man.
Hello soundd,
Exceptions are accepted by HMRC and are necessary to correct VAT errors from previous filings.
Changing the description will not cause an exception, was this transaction filed in a previous period and should it include VAT? Has the exception in the report changed in terms of amount?
Thanks
