VAT Return Details

Before I assigned some bank transactions I checked my VAT return as it's end of quarter.  I assigned several thousand pounds to VAT refundable categories (materials, travel expense) and yet the VAT return amount didn't change.  Am I missing something?  Thanks.

VAT Return Details

We understand the importance of accurate VAT return details, especially as the quarter comes to a close, MDSG. Rest assured that I'll be with you in this.

In response to your concern, we kindly recommend you meticulously review your VAT setup to ensure all configurations are accurate.

If, after reviewing the setup, everything is correct, we suggest checking the VAT Liability Report. This report is a summary of your taxable and non-taxable sales, plus the total sales tax you collected from customers. You can compare the Report period of your VAT report and the transaction date.

Additionally, please verify that the filters and date in the customise section window are correctly set and click on the amount to drill down into the details. This will provide a more detailed breakdown of the transactions affecting your VAT return amount. To run this report, here's how:

  1. Go to Reports and in the Find report by name field, search for "report name". Then, select the report.
  2. Select the Report period dropdown. Select the correct date range depending on how often you file your taxes.
  3. Select the VAT Agency dropdown. Then, select All or just one VAT agency.
  4. Hit Run report.

If the issue persists, We take some troubleshooting measures to help fix the issue, Stephen. This could be an issue related to your browser.

To begin, let's access your account through your browser's incognito mode. An incognito window will prevent the browser history from being saved. Please refer to the following keyboard shortcuts based on your browser type:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N

Alternatively, you can clear the browser's cache to eliminate common errors that may hinder the application from working properly. Clearing the cache will reboot the system, allowing you to work with a clean slate. You can also use other supported browsers to see if the issue persists.
