Is it possible to send invoice by mail using QuickBooks?

You cannot directly print the invoice from the Self Employed product - you can only do this if you enter an email address for the customer, save and then select print on the drop down arrow next to the Mark as Paid option. Otherwise, you could follow the instructions above by emailing it to yourself and printing the PDF.
