Create a sandbox with Quickbooks Enterprise 2023?

We're glad to have you here in the Community, Omaa. I can guide you through creating a company from your existing company data for testing purposes.

Please know that the ability to create a sandbox company for Quickbooks Desktop is currently unavailable. However, you can make a copy of your existing company file that you can utilize for testing.

Since you're using QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise, this process can be done in a few steps. This allows you to transfer your preferences, sales tax items, memorized reports, and chart of accounts to the new company file. Although it does not transfer bank or credit card accounts and sensitive information such as the Employer Identification Number (EIN) or payroll details.

Here's how:

  1. From the File menu, select New Company from Existing Company File.
  2. Choose Browse, then select and Open the company file you want to copy.
  3. Enter a new company file name and click Create Company.

Moreover, you can scan these resources for guidance on managing your accounts payable and receivables:

Notify us immediately if you have other queries when copying existing company files or any related concerns in QuickBooks Desktop. We'll be more than willing to help.

Create a sandbox with Quickbooks Enterprise 2023?

Side question.

If we were to use quickbooks online, can we create a sandbox company WITH our company data? Everything I'm reading seems to imply that quickbooks sandbox is just random data that intuit provides and we cannot actually test with our own data and processes?

Let me share more information about the sandbox company, @Omaa.

In QuickBooks Online, were unable to generate a sandbox company from your actual company. If you have a developer profile, you can create region-specific sandbox companies. However, this company contains sample data. They appear and function just like a typical QuickBooks Online experience. For more information, feel free to read this article: Create and test with a sandbox company.

You can export and move the lists from your actual company to this sandbox company. For detailed steps, you can check this article: Move your lists to QuickBooks Online.

Furthermore, I also recommend posting this concern to our Intuit Developer Community forum. This way, other experts can give you additional advice and alternatives to generating a sandbox company with your actual company data. Here's how you can get help:

  1. Go to this link: https://help.developer.intuit.com/s/.
  2. Choose your QuickBooks product relevant to your concern.
  3. Hit Ask a Question.
  4. Sign in and follow the onscreen instructions to continue.

Moreover, you can visit this article to learn more about Intuit Developer: Intuit Developer.

Let me know if you have questions about the QuickBooks sandbox company. Have a great day, and take care.

I think there's a misunderstanding.

I am asking if we are already using quickbooks online, can we use our actual company data to create the sandbox for testing?
