The upgrade to the QuickBooks reporting experience is well underway with most standard reports now opening in Modern View by default. Importantly, thanks to your feedback, we continue to improve the reporting experience and here are some of the improvements weβve made.

Weβre Listening and Making Improvements to Modern View Reporting
Some recent improvements:
- Drilldown for details: The modern view of aging summary reports now allows for drilling down into detailed reports, a feature previously available only in the classic view.
- Memo/description columns: The capability to add memo/description columns has been implemented in Modern View.
- Report format options: Additional report format options (Excel and CSV) have been added to the scheduling feature, which previously only supported PDF.
- Multi-currency functionality: Now enabled for Modern reports [being rolled out]
- Custom group schedules: The ability to schedule custom reports in a batch [being rolled out]
And weβve removed the prompt that asks you to save your report every time you want to exit the report (many of you told us how annoying this was).
Improvements expected soon:
- Customisation: When you drill down into a report and customise the view of the reportβthis customisation will now persist when you go back.
- Column widths: When you customise column widths these will now persist in modern reports.
- Account ordering: The account order shown in classic view will soon show in modern reports. For example the General Ledger reports the ordering from Assets β Liabilities β Equity β Income β Expenses will be shown.
- Displaying zero balance accounts: Zero balance accounts will not be displayed when printing out reports.
Previous improvements:
- The account number will now display in your reports
- Your chosen accounting method (cash vs accrual) will now display when you open a standard reportΒ
- The Profit and Loss title header is now centred
- The report PDFs have a clean, easy to read layout
- The accounting method is now shown in the report footer
- Non multi-currency reports now show currency only on totals and groups
- Your Classic view preference is now saved for 30 days
Saving your Classic view preference for 30 days
We appreciate change can be hard, especially when youβre super busy. Our data tells us some users are switching certain reports back to Classic view and we get it. In fact, if you prefer using Classic view for certain reports weβre now going to save your preference for 30 days to save you continually switching back. However, the Classic view option will eventually be removed, so the sooner you get familiar with Modern view, the easier it will be when Classic view is no longer available.
Weβd love your feedbackΒ
As you can see, weβve made many improvements alreadyβhowever weβre keen to hear what else needs to be done. If you have any feedback, please let us know about it by completing this form. Your feedback will be shared directly with our development team for review.
Whatβs next?
We will continue to update you on whatβs happening and whatβs coming next throughout the migration. Itβs important to know in the near future Modern View will become the only view available and we expect to start sunsetting Classic view with non-financial reports first, followed by financial reports. Weβll keep you across any changes.
