QuickBooks Ledger is a new QuickBooks Online plan designed exclusively for accounting professionals. Ledger provides an accounting solution to manage your year-end, tax-only, and low-transaction clients with automated bank feeds, bank reconciliation, financial statements, and a seamless transition to tax preparation.

Features include:

• 2 QBOA accountant users and 1 optional business/client user (Primary Admin)
• Custom chart of accounts
• Automated transactions through bank feeds
• Ability to upload documents including CSV transaction files 
• Ability to manually enter transactions or journal entries 
• Bank rules
• Recurring transactions
• Key reports and financial statements including balance sheet, profit & loss statements, general ledger and trial balance*
• Automated reconciliation of bank transactions 
• Seamless transition to year-end workflows and tax preparation 
• Third-party app connections*

*Any reports or third-party apps for invoicing, quotes, sales or sales tax, payments, managing or paying bills, budgets and tracking, projects, inventory, or other features that are not included will not be serviceable in QuickBooks Ledger.

QuickBooks Ledger is best for these types of clients:

• Multi-company clients with non-operating entities or holding companies
• High net-worth individuals

You can add your clients to QuickBooks Ledger through your QuickBooks Online Accountant (QBOA) account. You add subscriptions individually however if you need to add 50 or more Ledger subscriptions, our sales team is available to help.*

No. QuickBooks Ledger is only available to accounting professionals with an active QuickBooks Online Accountant subscription, which means that your clients can’t sign up on their own.

No, you don’t have to but you can. You can use QuickBooks Ledger without providing your client with direct access however if you would like your client to log in to connect their bank feeds, view their transactions or upload documents, you can give them access. 

You can provide client access by inviting your client into the file via Manage Users in Settings. Alternatively, when you set up the QuickBooks Ledger subscription you can give them primary admin access. 

Please note even if your client is assigned the primary admin role, you’ll still be billed for the Ledger subscription. You’ll also remain on their Ledger subscription as one of the QuickBooks Online Accountant (QBOA) admin users.

If you’ve taken the primary admin role for the Ledger file during the setup process, you’ll need to contact Support for assistance to transfer the primary admin permissions to your client. You will still have full access as one of the QBOA admin users.

Yes. Since QuickBooks Ledger is a part of the QuickBooks Online family, you can upgrade your clients to QuickBooks Online Simple Start, Essentials, Plus or Advanced depending on what they need to manage their business.

Downgrading from other QuickBooks Online subscriptions into QuickBooks Ledger is currently restricted and you can only set up new clients/companies on Ledger.
