It's my pleasure to help with password-based when logging and printing your cheques, l_love_QB.
QuickBooks Online employs an additional security measure to safeguard your account from unauthorized access. When logging in from an unrecognized device, the system generates a unique, single-use passcode that is sent directly to your registered email address. This temporary code serves as an extra layer of protection, preventing potential password theft.
If you're signing in from a trusted device, you have the option to select sign in a different way. Let me walk you through on how to do it:
For your printing cheque concern, you can follow these steps.

HI There
Thanks for coming back to me so quickly.
One small problem, I see no link "Sign in a different way". I am signing in from my personal lap top and used to have a password access. Intuit has changed this for some reason. I have never indicated that the device is "untrusted". So again, how do I get back to the orginal mode of connection using a password, which is much quicker?
Another small problem: for printing a cheque you say "Select the Print option, then click Print." I used ctrl-F to find "print", and finally saw it in tiny letters at the bottom of the screen. So now I can get to print preview, then the word "print" does not appear, there is no icon. I can download a PDF, called an "expense voucher", which does not look like a cheque. Is this humungous number of key strokes and "voucher" format as good as it gets?
I acknowledge your challenges with printing cheques and logging in to QuickBooks Online (QBO). Let's troubleshoot these together to help you get back on track.
Your browser saves files to make websites load faster when you revisit them. They can become outdated over time, leading to login issues, missing buttons, and slow loading of the program.
We can log in and print your cheques using a private window or incognito mode. These browsing sessions prevent cookies from being stored on your computer, making it a great place to identify webpage issues.
Here are the shortcut keys in all supported browsers:
If you can see the Print icon or the Sign in a different way option via private browsing, clear the cache of your regular browser to delete stored files and boost its overall performance. Utilising another supported browser is a great alternative.
In addition, these resources provide solutions to guide users in addressing sign-in and printing issues in QBO:

Thanks. Tried your suggestions, hate to say it, but none of them worked. Regards log in, what did work was a different login address. For me, whatever browser / machine / mode i use this log in now defaults to the email verifucation e-mail:

The proble with that is it takes more time, noit least as the code delivery is not instantaneous. However, I had a historic link with ?<code> added. Using that gives me what I want. Thanks anyway.
