I set up a new client on Quickbooks Online Accountant. I invited the client and she has connected the bank but I'm not seeing the transactions.

She has sent me a screenshot of her Quickbooks & it looks like she's on the Accountant version.

Hi Lorna1,

Can you advise further the steps you had taken to set up a new client, Also the name of the bank that the client has connected and if the balance for the bank has updated so we can look into this further for you?. Thanks

I went into the client list and selected add client. I put in the name and that set up the client. I then went into the clients data and invited her to access it. She followed the invite, connected the bank and has sent me a screenshot of the bank connected. The screenshot looks like she’s in an Accountant version of the software so it’s as if another business has been set up.

Hello @lorna1,

You'll have to invite your client as a Company Admin user so they can connect their bank account and you can manage their online transactions.

  1. On your client's company, o to the Gear icon.
  2. Under Your Company, select Manage Users.
  3. On the Add user tab, click Add User.
  4. Select Company Admin.
  5. Enter your client's name and email address.
  6. Click Save.

Here's an article you can read to learn more about inviting a client to their account: Add, Delete, or Change User Access.

Meanwhile, may I know the name or any information of the bank of your client? Any details can help me look for reported cases which can be the reason why you're unable to see any transactions.

In case you needed some ideas in managing your client's bank account and transactions, you can visit our Banking Articles hub for reference.

Thanks for your reply.  They are invited as admin but they seem to have managed to set up an accountants version of QuickBooks.  They sent me a screenshot of the QuickBooks with the bank connected and it looks like when I log into QuickBooks before I access any clients.  The clients name is Helen Nelson.

I'll help you keep track of your clients, Lorna1.

Your client should have a QuickBooks Online account (non-accountant version) so you can add them to the list. If they don't want a subscription, you can add them for tracking purposes. Here's how:

  1. Go to Clients, then click Add client.
  2. Select if your client is a Business or Individual.
  3. Add their business info.
  4. On the QuickBooks subscription, select the option you want. To see the difference between each plan's feature, click Compare.
  5. Click the box if you want to be the master admin of their file.
  6. Click Save.

For more information, please check this article on how to add a new client in QuickBooks Online Accountant

Let's go over to the transactions that aren't downloaded after your client connected the bank. You can check this article on what to do if bank transactions won’t download or there's a bank error
