Hi All,
Currently using a desktop version of Quickbooks (2013 version)
Need to upgrade to a Windows 10 compatible version and am looking at Quickbooks Desktop 2018.
There are a number of versions available on a well know auction website however they are all from the USA, so am unsure if one is purchased and installed will it do UK VAT etc.
Are the versions country specific or is it just a case of selecting UK and GBP and off you go?
Can't seem to find any second hand copies available in the UK?
Cheers
Hello Finance101, If you took out a US version it would be set up for their taxes. Versions are country specific in terms of tax rules though you could set your own codes when it comes to filing if you are Making tax digital registered it would not be feasible to use a different country version. The UK version t is a link that is downloaded and the product is now a monthly subscription which is likely why you are not able to find any UK physical copies.
Sorry are you saying it is possible to set up own codes with a US version or not possible?
MTD is exported to Excel prior to submission, so do not file via Quickbooks.
Thanks,
I’m here to share some insights with you about the tax code, @Finance101.
When setting up sales tax in the QuickBooks Desktop US version, you have the option to create a custom tax code or a tax code specific to your business needs.
As mentioned by my colleague above, versions are country-specific in terms of tax rules and regulations. That means the US version of QBDT will only handle taxes for the US and UK for UK taxes.
If you want to upgrade, you may consider downloading and installing your preferred version. You can check this reference to download QuickBooks Desktop for more details.
