I've been using Self Employed QuickBooks for a while now. I started using the Invoicing feature about 12 months ago. You create an invoice and send the invoice. QuickBooks sends an email with the invoice to my customer.
The problem is the email sent to customers by QuickBooks. If the email is opened on a desktop/laptop that uses Outlook 365 (desktop program), the email doesn't render properly and my customers are complaining they can't read and open the invoice properly. I've attached a screenshot showing some of the email. As you can see it doesn't look anything like it should do.
The email looks fine in my Outlook using Chrome or on my iPhone.
I use Outlook 365 on my PC and I can replicate the same problem.
I've been in contact with support twice now. The first time they never got back to me and just closed the ticket. The second time I sent screenshots and the response from 'QuickBooks Self Employed Care Team' was appalling. This is their response: "Please be informed that upon investigation it seems that there's no problem with the Invoices, please try to contact the Microsoft application that you mentioned."
Can someone explain to me what to do next? Give Microsoft a call and tell them to fix QuickBooks problem?
I've worked in digital marketing and email design before, it's not difficult to fix.
Anyone else have the same problem? Can QuickBooks care about their customers and fix the problem? If not, I'll have to change provider.
Thanks

Hi @Tony-CMM
There was no screenshot attached but the fact that the email looks fine in some email clients (you mention Outlook app / iphone mail) suggests it is something about Outlook Desktop rather than the email itself.
As you will know from your experience in digital marketing, there have always been issues with the way different browsers (& this extends to email clients) render html code. Some browsers simply don't follow the rules in quite the same way - or aren't so forgiving of coding errors & foibles.
I don't use either QB emailing system or Outlook Desktop so can't delve into it.
Have you thought about switching to plain text emails with pdf attachment?
Or downloading the pdf invoice & emailing outside QB? (that's my preferred option as I need to customise the message in a way that's not possible otherwise).
Hi Paul,
Thanks for responding.
My thought process here is that Outlook / Microsoft are the biggest email software providers in the world. They aren't going to change/update their systems because a QuickBooks email doesn't render properly.
FYI - The issue isn't to do with browsers or mobiles. Just the desktop version of Outlook 365.
I've had a look and I do not see an option of sending QuickBooks invoice emails in plain text.
I could download PDF's and send manually. But QuickBooks invoices would only stay in 'draft mode' if I don't send the invoice. The other option is to send the email from QuickBooks and then resend via my own email account. So defeats the objective. And looks poor sending an invoice twice. And adds a lot of extra time to manually email my invoices. The whole point of QuickBooks having the Invoicing system is to save time.
Thanks

This should have been mentioned by sales. Who would expect we could only email from intuit or a gmail address when we can use exchange from quickbooks Desktop?
This is possibly a deal breaker and I have already paid and spent serious time and effort migrating from quickbooks Desktop.
I have 700 invoices to send November first after migrating from Quickbooks Desktop. I don't want them to end up in a spam folder.
I can export the invoices, but they all come out in one single file.
Do you have any tips for companies with many customers to get around this limitation?
Hello Systematicnyc, thanks for posting on this thread, they are all the current workarounds that we have at the moment, that has already been posted on this thread and we are working to fix the issue as soon as possible.
