Banking matching suggestions became complete mess

Hi there,

I'm not sure if it's only for me or someone else is experiencing this as well.

In past then I was doing banking suggestion were so good. They used to remember things I do monthly and I had not think about many of them.

Now for some time, that got completely messed up. It forgot my daily stuff and started offering things out of the blue. And on top of this they for expenses, now it suggest  income options.

Is there any way to stop this from happening without creating rules for everything? Or I just have to live with lost feature :(

Hi Dode if you'd like to deactivate the auto categorise function then you can do so by navigating to the banking page, select the small cog to the right of the export and print icon located above the action column, and de-select the 'enable suggested categorisation' option. You can also delete the rules you've created by selecting rules, selecting the drop down menu to the right of edit, select delete.

I have the same problem, 'Auto-categorisation' has been de-0activated for some time but it continues to create nonsense matches and I can't batch-accept transactions as they all have different and completely wrong categories. HELP!

Hi Bexthom, do you have any rules created in your banking on QuickBooks to auto-categorise and auto-add transacions?

Yes I have 39 rules of which about two-thirds are 'Auto-Add'. I find some of them don't seem to be getting applied either. When I tried to edit one rule just now to add options the Save button remained unavailable. Tried quite a few times!

I appreciate you for getting back to us, Bexthom.

Let's get the issue with the Save button resolved.

You may be experiencing some browser-related issues. To resolve it, log into your account on an incognito window. Here is a list of the keyboard shortcuts to open one:

  • For Google Chrome: Ctrl Shift N
  • For Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl Shift P
  • For Microsoft Edge: Ctrl Shift P
  • For Safari: Shift N

If you can see the Save button, save the rule first. Then, you can continue working on the file on a regular browser. Then, clear its cache. Piled browser history can be the reason for some issues on the page. You may also switch to a different browser like Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, or Microsoft Edge.

To ensure that the rule was applied, you can toggle the Auto-add button to refresh the system. Let me guide you with these steps:

  1. Click the Banking menu and go to the Rules tab.
  2. Find the rule and click on the Edit link below the Actions column.
  3. On the Edit rule window, scroll down and toggle the Auto-add button to Off, and then On.
  4.  Click Save.

I've added this reference as your guide in categorising the transactions manually: Categorise and match transactions.
