Can't connect to CAF Bank, they have a certificate error

Thanks for getting back to us and adding more info about your concern. I really appreciate it, opera. Let's work together to get this sorted out.

The error (108) you encountered means that there are unread certificates from your bank regarding some important changes they have made to their website or terms of service. These alerts can also be about some new offers or changes to the policy on how QuickBooks connects and exchanges data.

To fix the problem and ensure you'll receive the SMS code, let's sign in to your CAF Bank's portal and look for any updates. They should contain specific instructions if you're required to take an action.

If you can't find one, we'll have to turn off the pop-up blocker. The steps may vary depending on your browser version.

After reviewing and addressing all the messages, sign back into QBO and refresh the connection.

  1. Go to Banking or Bookkeeping.
  2. Select Transactions, then choose Bank transactions.
  3. Click Update.

However, if you didn't see any notifications and still catch the error, please reach out to your financial institution. You may not be able to access certain types of notices causing this issue.

Finally, I'm adding these articles to learn how to review the downloaded entries and put them into the correct accounts:

Can't connect to CAF Bank, they have a certificate error

Let's perform some steps to connect the CAF bank in QuickBooks successfully, opera.

Please know that I appreciate you including the content of the error message you got. Still, I want to clarify and ask for the specific error message. This way, I can provide an accurate solution to your concern.

This bank requires Strong Customer Authentication (SCA). That means you need to enter your user ID and password when you update new transactions. When doing the process, I'd recommend performing it in a private browser. It helps QuickBooks work efficiently. Here are the shortcut keys:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl Shift N
  • Mozilla: Firefox and Microsoft Edge: Ctrl Shift P
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N

Alternatively, you can use other supported browsers in QuickBooks. Here are the lists:

  • Google Chrome: Version 78 or newer
  • Mozilla Firefox: Version 76 or newer.
  • Microsoft Edge: version 75 or newer
  • Safari: version 12 or newer (Mac only)

I have collected some articles for information about handling bank data in QBO.

Please let me know if you have additional questions about managing accounts and bank data. I'll be around to help. Take care and stay safe.

Can't connect to CAF Bank, they have a certificate error

After giving ID & pwd I get

The bank needs you to do something at their site. (108)

  • Take care of it at the bank site. Go to site
  • Come back here to connect the bank

The link shows this error message

{
  "code": "MANDATORY_CERT_MISSING",
  "message": "Missing TPP authentication certificate",
  "docs": "https://secure.mci.cafbank.org/mcidocs/docs.html"
}

BTW, SCA needs more than ID & pwd, it needs another factor which for CAF is an SMS code. That was not sent, it didn't get that far.

Can't connect to CAF Bank, they have a certificate error

I had followed the link to the CAF website which is where the message

{
  "code": "MANDATORY_CERT_MISSING",
  "message": "Missing TPP authentication certificate",
  "docs": "https://secure.mci.cafbank.org/mcidocs/docs.html"
}

is displayed. That is not actionable by me. The TTP certificate is what you require in order to connect, according to the docs.html that is shown.

So thank you for confirming that you cannot fix this and I must wait until CAF wakes up on Monday morning to fix this.

I have had to delete my link to CAF as QB continually tries to update which prevents the update of my other banks from completing, which should not be necessary.
