I’ve somehow managed to connect the same bank account twice so all my transactions are duplicated. I’ve tried to follow instructions to delete one account but whenever I click on the bank connection button, either through my profile or in the Quickbooks app itself, it just keeps saying words like ‘there is an error, try again!’. Any ideas to solve this most appreciated.
Welcome to the Community space, @Sianwestmancoat. I know the duplicate transactions have become challenging on your end especially when you click the bank connection an error prompt shows. Allow me to guide you on what we can do to fix this.
If you don't want to see transactions from a bank account anymore, you can hide them. This stops QuickBooks from downloading new transactions, and you keep all the existing data:

The articles below will also help you transfer between accounts, add older and exclude transactions in QBSE:

Hi Bryan and thanks for your response.
I have followed the steps but when I searched for my bank nothing came up so I wasn’t able to switch it off.
I have managed to delete one of the accounts by going to the ‘manage’ button and it now says I have 1 account connected (instead of 2) however the Quickbooks App now says I have no bank connected and it’s still showing hundreds of past transactions that haven’t been categorised (which are still duplicates). I’m really confused as to what is going on…?
thank you!
Sian
I appreciate you taking the time to perform the steps provided by my colleague above, Sian.
I understand the impact this situation has had on your business tasks. Please be assured that I'm here to assist you in resolving the issue of duplicate transactions in QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE).
Typically, when you disconnect a bank account, the associated transactions are also removed. However, if the transactions were manually entered, they will not be affected and will remain in the system. It is possible that the duplicated transactions were manually entered, which is why the entries are still showing.
Below are the two indicators to know if the entries were downloaded or manually added.
If the entries were indeed manually added, you have the option to delete these transactions to eliminate the duplicates.
For detailed information, kindly visit: Exclude or delete transactions in QuickBooks Self-Employed.
If that's not the case, it's possible that there may be a system glitch causing this unusual behaviour. To help isolate the issue, I recommend refreshing your QBSE application. This process is similar to clearing the cache from your web browser and can help start afresh with a clean slate.
Follow these steps if you are using iOS:
Otherwise, proceed to the instructions below for Android:
If you're still experiencing the same result, I suggest uninstalling and reinstalling your QBSE application. I also suggest logging in to your QBSE account through the website. This confirms that the issue only happens in the app.
Moreover, you may also want to explore this article to learn how to categorise the transactions you download from your bank or enter into QuickBooks: Categorise transactions in QuickBooks Self-Employed.
