I have a new potential client based in Nigeria that uses the First City Monument Bank (FCMB) account. Will I be able to support their business using QBO?

Hi info-hgz-org-uk,

Welcome to the Community page,

If your new potential client is based in Nigeria they would need to get QuickBooks in Nigeria and then add you as the accountant. If you send them this link and get them to select the pricing option and it gives you the products.

Create a trial account for the QBO Global version for Nigeria. Then you can check the latest list of supported banks.

@Obianuju

If your bank doesn't yet support QBO, you can import the bank statements manually. Another option, use one of the converter tools (e.g csv2qbo) as a workaround.

I have some information that I want to share with you. Let me guide you on how you can connect to your bank, Obianuju.

Connecting your bank account directly lets you fetch statements from bank feeds automatically into your account. Sometimes, you may encounter issues when connecting your bank due to the following reasons:

  • Your bank has multiple names on our list. Make sure you have selected the correct listing or have tried all possible links. Search by the banking sign-in URL to ensure you are using the correct listing.
  • Your bank does not connect to all types of accounts (for example, personal accounts vs business accounts).
  • Your bank is not a participating financial institution.

However, if you're still experiencing the same issue, you can request support from your bank. To do so, follow the steps outlined below:

  1. Go to Bookkeeping, select Transactions, then select Bank transactions (Take me there), or go to Banking (Take me there).
  2. Select Connect account.
  3. Search for the name of your financial institution. If QuickBooks is unable to find your bank, you will get the message, "Hmm, we can’t find [name of the bank you entered] in our list of supported banks," and you will be presented with helpful tips to try and locate your bank account.
  4. If you’re still unable to find your bank, select Request.
  5. Enter your bank's web address (URL) in the field provided, then select Request.

In the meantime, you can download transactions from your bank and manually upload them in QuickBooks Online (QBO). Here's how:

  1. Go to the Banking menu,  then select Banking.
  2. Choose Upload transactions or Upload from file.
  3. Pick Drag and drop or select files and select the file you downloaded from your bank. Then Continue.
  4. In the QuickBooks account ▼  dropdown, locate the account you want to upload the transactions into. After that, Continue.
  5. Follow the onscreen steps to match the columns on the file with the correct fields in QuickBooks. Then press Continue.
  6. Pick the transactions you would like to import. Next, Continue.
  7. Hit Yes.
  8. When you accept your transactions, click Done.

Additionally, learn how to get transactions from your bank or credit cards and manually import them into QuickBooks. Please check this article for the detailed process: Manually Upload Transactions Into QuickBooks Online.

Keep your post coming if you have further questions about adding invoice numbers to payment receipts in QBO.
