I need to change my bank details

Good day, rosecazzulini-gm.

Let me make it up to you by ensuring you're able to change your bank details in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

When you recently change your online banking credentials, you'll also have to update the bank information in QuickBooks. . You can click the Edit sign in info button to change it.

  1. Go to the Banking menu, and then select a bank account you'd like to change.
  2. Click the pencil icon , and then pick Edit sign-in info.
  3. Update your credentials like username, password, account number, etc.

If you'd like to edit the bank account name, here's how:

  1. Go to the Banking menu again, and then choose a bank account you'd like to modify.
  2. Tap the pencil icon ✎, and then pick Edit account info.
  3. Enter a new bank Name and Detail Type.
  4. Click Save and Close once ready.

QuickBooks automatically downloads the latest available transactions. You can then categorise, match or add them to the bank register.

In case you don’t see your recently downloaded bank transactions in QuickBooks Online, then you can follow the troubleshooting steps provided in this article to fix the issue: What to do if bank transactions won’t download or there's a bank error.

I'd be pleased to assist you if you have further questions about changing bank information in QBO. Feel free to leave a reply below.

I need to change my bank details

Hi I’ve recently changed my business bank account which I’ve added to quickbooks but all my paid invoices still link to my old account even though I’ve closed and removed it from the banking screen. I have to go into each invoice and alter the payment method to the new bank account so it will then Match. Can I make this my default account

Let me help you change your bank account and make it the default one for your invoice payments, Andrew Sweedy.

Merging both your old and new accounts is one of the quickest ways to move the bank information from your old account to your new ones. To do this, you can simply follow the steps below:

Before you continue, make sure you’re in the Accountant view.

  1. If you're merging accounts that have reconciliation reports, save those reports first. The transactions remain on the merged account and stay reconciled.
  2. Go to the Gear or Settings ⚙ icon and then select the Chart of Accounts.
  3. Find the account you want to keep. Then, select the dropdown ▼ in the Action column and then Edit.
  4. Note the Save account under (Account Type), Account name (Name), and Tax form section (Detail Type) of the account. These must be the same between the accounts you want to merge.
  5. Check if the account is a subaccount or parent account. The names of subaccounts are indented in the Name column of the Chart of accounts list. If it is, note the parent account it's tied to.

You have all the info you need for the account you want to keep. Now let's handle the duplicate:

  1. Go back to the Chart of Accounts.
  2. Find the duplicate account (the one you won't keep). Then, select the dropdown ▼ in the Action column and then Edit.
  3. Change the Account name (Name), and Tax form section (Detail Type) so the duplicate account's info exactly matches the account you want to keep. If you need to make this a subaccount, keep in mind:
    • If you're merging two parent accounts, make sure they don’t have any sub-accounts.
    • If you're merging two subaccounts, make sure they both have the same parent account.
    • If only one is a subaccount, change the Save account under (Account Type) to exactly match the other parent account so it becomes a parent account.
  4. When you're ready, select Save and then Yes, merge accounts.

Furthermore, once you have your bank statement in hand, you'll have to compare it with the ones you entered into QuickBooks. If everything matches, your accounts are balanced and accurate. Learn how to reconcile them after. I've got this article for more details: Reconcile An Account In QuickBooks Online.
