Hello there, @uservcharlotteb.
When QuickBooks Online (QBO) is no longer meeting the needs of your growing business, you can cancel your account through the Billing & Subscription page. Then, QuickBooks will automatically wipe your account details a year after the cancellation date. This is to let you have read-only access to your data in case you need them.
However, before doing so, I'd recommend exporting and/or printing your data before you shutdown your QBO account for future use. Whenever you're ready, here's how:
- Sign in to QuickBooks Online as an admin user.
- Go to the Gear icon.
- Select Account and settings.
- Go to the Billing & Subscription menu.
- In the QuickBooks section, select Cancel subscription or Cancel online.
- Follow the onscreen steps.
I've attached a screenshot below that shows the fourth and fifth steps.
Additionally, you can check out this article to learn more about our data retention policy after you cancel your QBO subscription: What happens to my QuickBooks Online data after I cancel?. It also includes details about the re-subscription process.
Please don't hesitate to let me know if you have other concerns about managing your QBO subscription. I'm just around to help. Take care always.
